$50,000 Cash What To Do?

Hello I am a college student at the university of Kansas currently in the Buisness School as a Jr. I have received $50,000 to invest in my own buisness which I am intending on starting up as soon as possible. I would love to get in the real estate and rental property area, becoming a landlord with positive cahs flow. If anyone has any good ideas where I should start or if they have a plan I may follow it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to live off of my investments straight out of college and work full time on my investments. Thanks for reading!

well i know in the sioux city iowa region you can buy a house for $50,000 in cash and you can rent that house out for $550-$650 per month. There is definitly alot of different areas you can get into with $50,000. If you have any building skills, rehab homes would be a great place to start.

For $25,000 I’ll tell you my patent secret on what to do with your $50,000… ;D

In all seriousness now… ::slight_smile:

You are a business major and you think that you are going to start living off of your real estate earnings right out of school with a $50K investment? I don’t want to burst your bubble, but that’s not going to happen.

You want to know the best proven way to make quick $$$ in real estate?

Take your $50K and and market a “proven way to make quick $$$ in real estate”

I’m serious. 8)

The people who make serious money in real estate don’t generally own much real estate…I know some folks are going to take me to task on that one, but have your facts ready because I will give you a heck of an argument.

I’ll tell you ALL of Pat’s secrets for half of that!

All kidding aside, you need to decide what ‘niche’ of investing appeals to you and then you need to read, study, read, study (and you thought that would be over with when yu graduated, huh?), read, study…

Then, you need to decide where you want to do this…I almost went to work at KU but they were trying to get me to work for nothing so I came here instead…I think you could do well with rental properties in and around Lawrence.
