You've got to lie

Lying gives you credability? And it impresses people?

Sorry! Lying makes you a liar! It ruins your credibility and who is impressed by a liar?

You just don’t get it and you probably never will. You think whatever you need to do, you can. That it is all about you getting a deal. That anything goes!

And you probably think all us honest people are just dumb! And because you justify your dishonesty, you think you are superior.

When you have no moral and ethical boundries, where does it end? Mortgage fraud? Prison?

I don’t care what you think! I care about my ethics, and my honesty! I hope you never do business in my city! I like to see guys like you fall! And fall you will, because us dumb honest people want to get rid of dishonest investors.

I’m going to completely ignore the moral debate in this thread, because I don’t believe that’s the issue at all.

You (EquityHunter) seem to be saying (and please correct me if I’m wrong) that you NEED to lie to sellers about your experience and rate of success in order to get deals. If that’s the case then you have a much bigger problem than the morality of exaggerating. The problem you’re experiencing is based squarely on a scarcity mentality, and that is something you MUST overcome.

When you’re talking to a seller or a buyer and know for fact that there are 100 more just like them lined up waiting for you. There’s no need to do or say anything to try to get them to work with you. If they have the audacity to question your credibility…bye-bye. Let somebody else put up with BS like that. You don’t need to because you have too much business as it is.

I’ll give you a real world example of what I’m talking about. Back in the fall I developed an email marketing campaign that produced so many deals from craigslist that I had to take steps to slow it down. Here are a couple of gems:

  1. Accept deals involving PERFECT houses ONLY.
  2. If a seller responds to my marketing with anything other than: “Where do I sign?” toss in the trash. I refuse to answer questions of any kind, forget credibility questions!
  3. Even with these steps I still have to limit the amount of marketing I do and spread it out because I get so many deals I don’t have time to enter them all onto my website let alone sell them.

At one point I was signing up 3 or 4 deals a day and I was only scratching the surface of just what craigslist has to offer.

So if you ever find yourself thinking that you need to stretch the truth to get a deal, just remember how many deals there are out there where you don’t even have to get out of bed for sellers to beg you to help them!

if you have to resort to deceiving to get what you want then whatever you are trying to acheive is not REALLY worth it…b/c in the short run it may get you what you think you want but in the end it will only bite you in the arse later. Choice is always yours. Me? I prefer always taking the high road…I like to sleep at night and look at myself in the mirror. I know my rewards were won honestly - fair and square. And nobody (incl me) can take that away from me no matter how hard they try.

;D

Read his other posts to get “the big picture”…IMO being a prevaricator may be one of his better qualities.

I am in the process of trying to buy my first property. I have recently contacted numerous sellers regarding their properties including one guy that is selling a $1mil block of condos. I simply said I am interested in buying, I did not say that I was Donald Trump or make any claims. No one asked for my credentials, no one asked how many peices of property I owned, I didn’t have to lie.

this is actually comical and i had to say i enjoyed the comments. Ive been to two courses " you know the ones that are way too expensive". Yeah i was one of those suckers. Anyway suprisingly they said to tell the sellers or whoever you are delaing with that you’ve done numerous deals and that you have this and that backing you and that you are purchasing 100 properties in the next year. I believe a few of you know the company im talking about by that last sentence. Anyway most of the time if you are dealing with someone selling their house they wont care because you are giving them something they want and you are getting something you want. Its a win win deal. If they are concerned with your experience or expertise in the field of real estate, then think to yourself who does this more often you or them. ITS YOU! thats why you are doing this and their not! Dont blatantly lie to them, get the deal done and move on to the next one.

I got busted lying in a job interview once when I was in high school. The person interviewing me did not let on that he knew I was lying, but as I was leaving the interview he thanked me for coming in and then suggested that I not stop looking for a job. Taught me a very valuble lesson that day. Nobody likes thieves or liars.

Most of the military schools have a rule that all students must sign up to: “I will not lie, cheat, or steal nor tolerate those that do”…this means that if you have knowledge of the act and do not act on it, you are just as guilty as those that actually perform the act…kinda makes the thing ‘self-policing’…

It’s a very short trip down from the top of your so-called ladder. But in your case, we’re looking at a step-ladder in comparison. The odds are going to catch up with you if there not already in the works as I write. I’m sure your family is very proud.

I do give you credit for openly expressing your tremendous lack of ethics and morals. I don’t think there’s one person alive that hasn’t pondered stepping over the legal line to benefit themselves in one way or another, but morals and ethics keep us honest.

You’re a lurking preditor constently looking for your next victim. You’re no different than any other scum-of-the-earth preditor looking to benefit from someone elses weakness or short comings. You’ve got such a tremendous lack of confidence and self-esteem that you don’t or can’t fit within the rest of society so you lie to cover up even more lies that you can’t face within yourself.

The frightening result and your ultimate downfall may not come from various rotten and deceitful deals, but will come on the day you take an honest look at yourself in the mirror. Nothing or no one in this world can save you from yourself. You’ll be you’re own worst enemy…ouch, that’s a frightening realization.

surrealestate,

If you’re talking to EquityHunter, he is “no longer with us”…

unfortunately, a lot of your competitors are lying. you just have to be creative and figure out ways to win without compromising your integrity.

I’m locking this thread, the user that started it has been deleted and continuing to argue against him is a moot point.
