Would you quit your day job for $100,000

Who would? As stated time and time again there are calculated risks and there are forseen unnecessery risks. I admire your conservative views you will do well also . Good luck to you. Ill let ya all know if I take the plunge my wife is for it and so is my dad .So as far as approval I have the approval from the ones that mean the most . This is all about the due dilligence for workability and practcallity.Thank you so much and good luck. And heck if it doesnt work I have a year long story to tell my friends and I go back to driving trucks and brainstorming my next dissaster . :-\

That’s great that your wife and dad support you. Those are the ones that matter most and I hope you do very well if you do decide to take the plunge.
It’s good that you have a back up plan too! ;D

Good Luck!!

Real estate investing is not a no lose situation. Many have lost money, tremendous amounts, in real estate investing.

Consider that one who has more responsibility and more to lose will be more conservative. A 45 year old man with a wife and 5 kids may tend to be more conservative than a single 25 year old. Someone who is already supporting a comfortable lifestyle will tend to be more conservative than someone who is barely making it and striving toward conspicuous consumption. One who has a 6 or 7 figure income from a J O B may be less inclined to want to quit, particularly if he is the BOSS.

Maybe it is a good move for you. I am certainly interested in following the story and I wish you the best. What I truly don’t understand is the need for approval from people who you don’t know. Do things for yourself and for your family.

Thanks for the Support Steve ,If you look at my post "Would you quit your job for $100,000 "I stated to aznewbie.and in here too I believe.I have approval from the ones I love and vice versa which is almost imperative if you have to face them every day .Me ? 40 years old been with Naomi for 10 years.(ps we’re not married but after 10 years …she’s your wife) and you are exactly right I think Im getting a lot of response from those who have made the 6 figure J.O.B. and are quite setteled in their style which Im still looking for.My only motivation to do this is I work bringing home $2100/month working for someone else.In my spare time I got into investing and have made a small fortune on paper and now I feel it is time to reap a little of that and put myself in the drivers seat of my career.Instead of that labor hungry J.O.B. I WORK for .I also have lost my but on a deal or two but Im still at it .Thats how we learn.

Campbellgroup, I do not make 6 figures, never have and probably would be happy if I did, as long as it is not working for somebody else. I have been a stay at home mom since I got married when I was 16 :o

My reason for wanting to get into REI of course other than the $$ is, it’s something I can do that I will not have to put my family second. I have never liked the idea of leaving my kids with strangers all day so I can go work at a job I dont like. Unless it was something I could do from home I would not even consider it.
Luckily I have this choice. Thanks to my husband.

That leads me to the other reason for wanting to invest.
Although he has a good J.O.B he is gone a lot. Plus his job is very unstable. (Construction) He doesnt own the business but we are comfortable with what he brings home.
Ultimately I want to earn enough so he can quit his J.O.B also and do this with me instead.

My third reason is, it’s something I can make a good living at without a college degree and I will get to help people in the process. what more could I ask for?? ;D

So my reasoning of saying don’t quit your job is based on my situation. I wouldn’t quit because we have 3 kids and bills to pay.
It would be too risky for me.

With a good plan and the support of the ones in your life that matter most you should do good. Just have enough saved to carry you for 6 months and a backup plan just in case.
;D

Thanks Angelina, Like yourself Im proud of my accomplishments so far without a college education.Fortunatly My wife does not work except for with our business which is a job in its self. And since we have been doing this she has learned how to lay tile, hang drywall, paint, get a tenant to fess up about a situation. Not exactly what she had in mind for her life but according to her she wouldnt change a thing .In the end its all worth it.REI has really paid off for us to this point even with our flops on some of my crazy ideas. Her 2 daughters have lived with us the past 5 years and are now 22 and the other is on her own so I am in a position to take a risk like this.Although Im still trying to convince my dog that this is a good thing ;D.You couldnt ask for more .Family and stability are #1.

How funny, thats how I learned all of that stuff too. Along with how to fix cars when they break down. Hey, when you need to know…
:o

Do you own rental property?

No. We used to live somewhere the owner was always wanting my husband to fix things. So he ended up being the maintence man for his properties on weekends and after work. I would tag along to keep him company and helped/learned.

Thats the way we are always trying to meet new people and make a buck to pay the electric. I think you are in arizona.Naomi’s sister lives in Prescott.

;D Small world.

And getting smaller all the time . Well off to the Fleamarket to see if there are any good deals today.Talk you you later

as usual nothing but junk
