In Connecticut the banks take the mail boxes they probably do that everywhere. If the mail box is missing it’s probably a bank owned property and worth investigating.

I bought a bank owned property but the mail box was there, I’ve never heard of this but now I’m going to keep my eyes open :biggrin

If I can’t find who owns the property, I’ll knock on the neighbors doors and tell them I’m want to buy and fix up the property so it’s not vacant anymore and ask if they know a way to contact the owner. It’s worked for me before.

Yes, an excellent way to locate a seller. It only takes an extra few minutes to knock on their door and ask. I’ve found most are more than willing to tell the history of the vacant house.
