Well my kids are little hellions!!! All my diaper changing and sleepless nights are worth the $1800 rebate!!! I think they’ll understand… :rolleyes
But an economic meltdown is coming whether we want it or not. It will come when the other countries stop lending us money and the current middle class becomes the new poor. It will be a country of only rich & poor people. What side are you guys going to be on??

I totally disagree with this. Unfortunately, our children aren’t going to have the money to pay these bills, especially since they’re expected to pay for all the entitlement programs which are going broke. Let’s face it, WE are paying for that funny money $600 check through the devaluation of our dollar. Flood the market with money backed by nothing and simply printed on a printing press or inserted into the economy through digits in a computer and every dollar you have is worth less. We are paying for this mess RIGHT NOW and we still owe a LOT MORE!
When I went to the gas station last week and paid $65.10 to fill up my pickup, I was paying an invisible tax for the asinine $600 rebate. When I buy a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread, I’m contributing to my $600 rebate through the hidden tax of inflation.

Exactly right! When the socialists get into office, they’re going to dramatically raise your taxes at the same time your dollar is worth less every day. When China decides that they are tired of seeing their dollars drop in value, they’re going to flood the market with dollars and hyperinflation will be here. Then get out the grocery cart so you can take enough money to the grocery to buy a gallon of milk.

fdjake is right. The government lives just like the guy who’s upside down on his house but has two giant SUVs and a 3 LCD TVs. As a country we have to pay for what we do. We are in a war that costs trillions yet we’re giving taxes BACK to the people. Wouldn’t the right thing to do be to pay for it? Freedom isn’t free alright. And how about getting some investment IN our country. Not when we have an administration that says science is immoral. Remember all that Clinton BS about “building a bridge to the 21st century…”. Well, to the rest of the world it meant come here and invest, we’re on the cutting edge, and helped the tech and biotech boom.
I just read where consumer confidence is at a 16 year low. Hey, wasnt that when Bush Sr. was finishing up his reign? Huh.
One other note: Bear Stearns wasnt saved. It was liquidated. A lot of jobs and retirement funds were lost. If that CEO sold his stock for 60 mil, sure he’s sitting pretty, but imagine what it was worth last month.
