Reed has a certain real estate formula that he uses and anyone that doesn’t use that exact same formula to buy real estate gets a bashing from him.
Reed hasn’t bought a property in decades according to his website.
Reed doesn’t want to accept the fact that there are thousands of real estate investors out there doing no money down deals proving him wrong every single day.
I wouldn’t touch that man and anything he sells even with a 12 foot pole.
Yes, I actually got sucked into his website a few days ago
and belive it or not spent over 2 hours of my valuable time
reading about him. I did see where he went to West Point as
well as reading his full self bio.
Keith, I am sure that you know some of the West Point Guys
Probally more of them than me. While I respect the graduates
and especially the service to our country, I will say most of the
ones I know and have met do tend to have tunnel vision
in a lot of respects. (My way or the Highway type of thinking)
After my 19+ years in the Army I am still trying to shake some
of the “Brain Washing” that was done to me. :rolleyes
I would say to anyone that John T. Reed, is a internet
marketingexpert (which I admire) but I wondered why he
seems positive on some things but so darn negative on
others.
I see his stuff everywhere and his name has come accross
my busy desk a few times the last couple of weeks so I really
honestly just wanted to know if he has a true following?
Has anyone Read his Books, Used his Methods etc.
Is he the “Real Deal” or does he just bash everyone
else to sell his books. I wonder? He seems to hate
mentors and No Money Down Deals and says that there
are not any?
So far I have found little real feedback?
My thought was IF he is as good as HE says
HE is, then I wanted to offer him the chance to author
a few articles in my community Forum or at least
interview him myself, as well as do some fact finding
to present to my members so they can make up
their own minds as to buy his books and follow
his teachings.
If the guy is really after helping folks
to learn Real Estate Investing then you
know I am all for it.
I mean he seems to have something to say about a lot of other educators, (he even was sued by Russ Whitney)
so I thought folks may want to know the real and true full story
on the guy and why he is the way he is.
Anyway, I will be absent from the board for about 10 days as
I need a well deserved break, and I am flying out to Las Vegas
for the week and to catch the Bernard Hopkins and Joe
Calzaghe fight at Planet Hollywood.
I also hope not to Loose to much money on another passion of mine.
No Limit Texas Holdem. You know “Shuffle up and Deal”
Stumbled across that link while digging thru the forums over the weekend. It seems to be more people’s personal experiences than the author’s critique. Enjoy.
P.S. Just noticed that John $Cash$ Locke is in there. Don’t mean to give too much free advertising, but you got a rather good rating overall.
We had a awesome time and ran into
a few movie stars while we were there!
I also saw and met most all the top guys on the Texas Holdem Shows
I met (too Many To Name) - That was really cool.
We saw Robert Patrick (from the Terminatior 2) at Planet Hollywood. (Nice Guy he was)
He was there for the Hopkins fight, also Arnold, Sly, Jeremy Piven and others.
I met Chris Tucker at the Flamingo (Rush Hour 1 - 2 - 3) (Very Funny and humble guy)
Saw the show Cirque Show called KA’ (Amazing!)
Met George Wallace the comedian
Won several hundered on slots…
Toured the $8.3 Billion dollar center city project
owned by only 2 guys from Dubai.
But still have not heard back from Mr. John T. Reed :rolleyes
Oh, But on another note:
I did get banned from BiggerPockets for posting
a helpful article on the site and asking a question
by the sites owner Joshua Dorkin.
If you post an artilce on his site to help his ranking, he allows it to stay, but bans you if you have a link to your website in your signature block.
Nice guy right?
So if I were you I would be carefull not to post
your hard earned research or tips on that site.
If you have not seen it, its like My Space
for Real Estate.
One of my Top 10 Best Areas to Invest in Post had
over 3000 hits, in a few days them he bans me in like
15 min after I posted but will not return an e-mail or phone call.
hummmmmm, something rotten in Denmark as they say.
I just ask him why he is trying to sell a Bigger Pockets
Sweatshit for $39.00 and $20.00 for a baseball cap
he the guy bans me. :bs
As least www.ReiClub.com will GIVE you a T-shirt
if you write a good success story for them and they will
not ban you for adding your website to your signature block.
I have gotten replies from him and sometimes I haven’t. The man is intelligent, but the reality is he hasn’t owned investment property for many years and that makes his investment advice somewhat dated, especially with respect to new regulations and laws.
As for his guru ratings, I agree with most of them. Gurus typically sell promises and high priced forms.
Another comment on Reed.
You ever notice who he doesnt recommend? To no surprise its the big names we have all heard and read. And yes I have seen his info on baseball and football. NO CLUE!!
Good information for new and intermediate investors. And, gurus deserve bashing for selling out-dated 1980’s info for thousands of dollars.
I own several of his books and have actually read them. So, I can tell you the information is very good. He gives facts, figures and numbers about different strategies that he’s gotten from interviewing professional investors buying different types of deals: foreclosures, probates, etc. You’re not going to find a lot of positive thinking, rah rah hype, nor wildly creative financing techniques. This is non-nonsense information on how to make money, not just acquire properties.
Now, I think the quality of the book typesetting and binding is a bit amateurish, especially considering the prices (I’m a book publisher myself).
Beware, JTR will call you out on ethical issues. He’s very black and white about things that other gurus paint gray. If you are someone who likes to push the envelope of what’s legal and ethical in your investing, these are not the books for you.
Considering the quality, costs, and content of most infomercial & guru courses, I’d recommend JTR books long before recommending the other junk that’s out there–especially to new investors. At least JTR tells it like it is without the sugar coating and hype. Some people criticize JTR for “killing their dream” or “being negative.” But then I’ve seen enough wreckage of the “think and grow rich” in real estate crowd to recommend JTR over anything they learned on. I’m of the mindset that most people who get into this business have no business getting into it. They would do well to read JTR, get a sense of the work and risk involved, and then work on their credit instead of trying to scam unsophisticated sellers.
Nice review of his books. I’m glad he tells it like it is.
I wouldn’t bash think and grow rich. I’d say bash Nouveau Riche, those are the people making “investors” outta non investors. Think and grow rich more like, takes your desire and tells you to try hard, nothing so reckless as “scam people to make it to the top” ya know?
Well, I guess this man only appreciates his works and his self. John T. Reed hates anyone that does no money down deals. well, he has his own style. Btw, I have read Reed’s book that includes coaching, specifically baseball and football as well as “Succeeding”. Nice thread! :beer
