Something I don't understand.

Would you people who hate Rush so intensely explain to me why you listen to him if you don't like him.

tatertot,
Sometimes I am FORCED to listen to Rush because:
1.  The DVD player in my van broke and I am too cheap to replace it.
2.  Driving across "The Big Empty", a 3-hour stretch of desert prairie with no towns) there are 3 stations:  far-right radio of Rush and his kind,  Christian radio evangelists,  Radio Mexico.
3.  I get sleepy.  Anger helps keep me awake.
Now you know.

rookie,
Yes, okay.  I do take advantage of others with my Capitalistic ways of outbidding them on property, selling high, buying low.  Renting higher than others.  Making profit occasionally.  When I can.  But mostly I meant that it is not right that I can afford my outrageous United Health Care premium, while others get no health care at all.  Because they are the working poor and can not afford it.

Hoosier,
The Constitution does not cover a whole lot of things.

Propertymanager,
NO, WE DO NOT HAVE THE BEST HEALTH CARE IN THE WORLD.  That is judged by longevity rates, 1-year infant death rates, rates of infection, etc.  You are wrong.

I am with fdjake, and some of you others in that I believe we need a BOTTOM LINE SAFETY NET in health care.

We should ALL pay for it.

No one should be bankrupted by an illness.  No one should be forced to stay in a dead-end job because they can't give up health benefits.

We need government in health care, JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES HAVE DONE, because it is just too big, too expensive, too difficult to regulate without government involvement.

I am selfish, too.  I want what is humane and right.  But I also want universal health care because when I go to Wal-Mart, and you cough on me with your untreated TB, I could end up spitting blood too.

Can you name one?  I cant..

Names everything the Federal Gov is ALLOWED to do, then lets everything else be left up to the states.

Education?  STATES
Health Care?  STATES

The Constitution covers EVERYTHING.  You just dont LIKE it because it doesnt let the Federal Government do EVERYTHING.

Sellnbama
I too find this unnerving when I talk politics with my liberal co-workers...It puzzles me deeply...How can someone be in agreement with this administration and be a self proclaimed capitalist..Its absurd..

allagash,
The northern part of the Chihuahuan Desert, southern part of the Great American Prairie.

Hoosier,
Think what a mess we would have if each state had to provide a state health care plan.  Americans move around way too much for that.  It would be an expensive bureaucratic nightmare.

rookie,
The far left is often waaay too far out there. They can't make their philosophy practical.  And they demonize the right.  I would put myself in the middle, leaning left.  The solutions have to work.

Furnished,
I think you meant your CD player instead of DVD,right?I listen to Rush pretty often,,but sometimes I do admit somethings seem so repetitive.I still think he's the best at what he does, which explains his enormous $400mill deal. But I have to respect him from starting from ground up on A.M. during the most undesirable time of day.ANd yet still keeps that time, and stays on top. It's a pretty big accomplishment for a deaf guy to boot, whether you agree with his politics or not.

I idolize this type of person who proves anything is possible.WHat a great opportunity we have in this country,,,,for now anyway.  :beer

sellnbama,

You are right.  Yes, CD. I am not technologically advanced.

Rush Limbaugh has a great way with words, and a distinctive speaking voice.  He sucks you into listening.

But he is also toxic!  He spews hate and intolerance.

He is the voice of the disenfranchised back-woods guy with a load of firearms.  He feeds the paranoia and anti-government hatred of a whole class of people.  He gives his listeners what they want;  he plays them, and feeds the fires of outrage.  He does this to increase his popularity, not because he wants change.  Heck, change would lower the thermostat and decrease the number of listeners.

Rush is for non-thinkers.  Rush preaches and tells people what to think.  He is dogmatic, never questioning or wanting to learn.  His followers are sheep, nodding their heads, oh yeah, Obama is a leftist, the Democrats are satanic, the country is going to socialist hell.

He mocks women and people with disabilities.  He is smart as a fox and careful not to use racially-charged words or they would pull him off the air.  How correct do you think that man is in private?

I dislike him because he is so predictable, always sings the same tune.  He only tears down, never builds up.  He is a hate monger.  Has he ever, personally, done anything positive for another human being?

He doesn't debate anyone on his show because his ego can't share the limelight.  He can't take the chance of being out-smarted.

Look at the difference between him and Larry King.  I learn something every time I listen to his thoughtful guest interviews.

When I hear Rush Limbaugh I am reminded of the German Minister of Propaganda, who fanned the flames of German Nationalism in the 1930's with his fiery appeals and his hatred.  Those radio speeches can still be listened to.

Losing Rush Limbaugh and his air-wave mimics would sweeten the sound coming out of my radio on those long drives.

I only hate 3 people and they are all people I know and have done something deliberately to hurt me.  I don't know Rush so I don’t hate him.  I listen to him because anybody that doesn’t understand both side of any issue doesn’t really understand what the issue is and so doesn’t really have a view.  Neither conservatives nor Liberals are not some mindless monsters that want to tear down the country, they have a view based on some set of fears, experiences, and desires.

That is why I made my son (who is a liberal to the max) go to see Sarah Palin when she came to Houston.

Rush and Palin and for that matter Obama and Pelosi are politicians.  They espouse a certain view because it is the view of their political side.  They are not right or wrong, they are political.  I listen to Rush to understand the raw view without consideration of life’s lessons.

I do find it funny that the 2 premier voices of the conservatives are people with very limited education and social exposure.

Bluemoon,
Yes, I am awed too by the current anti-intellectualism of the Republican Party.  What happened to them?  They got lost in the woods or somethin'?

I would be very excited about a Palin/Limbaugh ticket.  I would be very excited about a Palin ticket, period.  I doubt she would take a vice-presidential position this time.  But I am excited only because it would be such good political theater.  Obama would mop the floor with her.

Where is the middle-of-the-road Republican statesman/woman who can think and solve problems?  Rather than the negativity?

It seems to me that the Republican Party has been hijacked by the vociferous Tea-Party, born-again Christian, NRA, anti-government, anti-abortion, Far Right.  Them's all scary folks to me, the middle voter.

The Republican Party needs to reinstate that feeling that they are the party of bankers, judges, businessmen, conservative staid lawyering types.  Until then, the Republicans are getter further and further marginalized on the strident far-right fringe.  Nobody but the Dems are standing up to them.  Moderate Republicans are hiding in the bushes.

The soccer Moms, young voters, immigrants, people of color, Hispanics, the non-religious are not gonna vote Republican.  Looks like Rush has become the voice of the Republican Party?  Maybe he needs a muzzle.

Yeah  :bs  ... Dont make your kids do anything unless they want to?  Are you serious?  Good way to teach your kids values..  And yes, where you stand politically does say alot about your VALUES.  Ron Paul = anti theft (government taxes in excess/unconstitutional are THEFT), pro-life, allow people to protect themselfes (gun rights).  Basic stuff, and these are values people should teach their kids to believe.

He has been to a tea party before and he has studied Somalia, so he doesn't really need to listen to Ron Paul.

hey Hoosier,

try not to be so hostile in your answers....I know many on this site are, but that doesn't mean you have to take such offense in the opinions of others.

you seem to have much knowledge, for only being 19, but you still have much to learn Grasshopper.....keep an open mind.

yes I am serious about my answer...every person on earth wants the same thing....the freedom to make their own decisions and opinions....if you demand that they partake in your views, I think you are missing the big picture here....you don't teach your kids values by demanding they follow your path...give them some credit and let them choose their own path.....you can certainly make suggestions.

who is Ron Paul?...never heard of him, dont follow politics.

I'm 10 years your elder...and I can assure you I have been through the school of hard knocks.

You certainly don't have to agree with me....but you may want to be a little more open to discussion, than calling my views BS right from the start....maqke sense?
